We Deserve It Too
This poem was written in response to the recent overturn of Roe V Wade and is meant to be read and experienced aloud.
Unbelievable, unacceptable
Reflectable, unfounded control
Dismissable, missable
We don’t have what keeps us whole
The right to choose
To let go of, to lose
To pick next steps
To right to move
We deserve it too
I can barely speak it
It electrifies my blood
I want to be in it
But my womb floods
The mud.
The blue blood from that fucking stud.
The truth that reality isn’t what I want
And my body, the bodies that bore us
Are being debated and deflated like
there’s something to discuss
I am a flower in a field
They want to clearcut
I am a flower in a field
Because they forgot
Is that seeds grow
And thoughts bloom
And every time they assume
They presume
That our power won’t regrow
We show that truth
We know
Baring children is between the cosmos and you, anything else is untrue.
I want to trust in the power of truth
That autonomy over me and you
Our human thoughts and imitated conceptions
We’re all stunted by limited perceptions
For now, too much - I pass this worry on to you.
